The Embodiment of Resilience

Guadalupe is my 94-year-old grandmother and the inspiration behind my journey.

If you were to sit with her over a cup of coffee, she would tell you stories of her childhood growing up in SLP, Mexico as the only daughter of farmers. Guadalupe was the livelihood of the ranch. From the age of eight, she spent hours bent over a metate, grinding herbs and spices to prepare meals for her family. She still has that same metate to this day.

Her stories of hard manual labor, motherhood, and survival inspire me deeply. Knowing that her strength runs through my marrow sustains me on the days I feel like falling apart. Guadalupe is the embodiment of resilience. Her roots to her Self run so deep that she knows nothing other than being one with God and the Divine Mother Earth.

She taught me how to love the land, heal the soul, and trust the wisdom the earth offers us. When her body hurts, we rub leaves on her skin and sing sacred chants. She is my Why.

And don’t be fooled by the twinkle in her eye — she is all tough love.

The Hands Behind The Mely Bolster

My mother is the kindling to my fire, the wind to my blizzard, the waves to my tsunami, the trees to my earth. She is strength. She is power.

Her life has not known a single day of privilege. She does not wait for things to happen — she finds the will and the way. She has been described to me as “tough as nails,” but that phrase simply isn’t tough enough.

My mother is my greatest pride.

When I was young, she would tell me, “If it has a solution, why worry? And if it doesn’t have a solution, why worry?” Such a simple idea — yet so difficult to practice.

The wisdom that runs through her bones brings the Mely Bolster to life. She weaves her bravery, resilience, strength, and power into every stitch, helping me bring healing to people like her.

Certified Classical Indian Yoga Teacher and Zen Buddhist Meditation Guide

I am the proud owner of Guadalupe Rooted Resilience, LLC, a Veteran- and woman-owned small business based in Texas.

I have spent the majority of my adult life working in healthcare and serving in the United States Army. My time in the military left invisible scars that will never fully heal. Yet through yoga and meditation, I began to find peace.

After years of navigating depression, anxiety, PTSD, and insomnia, I discovered Reiki — a practice that changed my life. The pain and resentment I had stored in my body began to move, leaving me feeling both light and spacious.

After completing my education at GWU, I found myself falling out of love with healthcare. Realizing that nothing changes if the system itself does not change left me deeply burned out. Once again, resentment began to grow within me.

While working in Michigan, I made a life-altering decision: I enrolled in Yoga Teacher Training and moved back to Texas, choosing to plant roots and reconnect with my resilience.

Today, I am certified in Classical Indian Yoga and Zen Buddhist Meditation. I founded GRR to honor my heritage and to offer my knowledge to the community free of charge — always donation-based.

My mission is to bring movement and meditation to underserved communities, Veterans, and survivors of sexual and domestic abuse. For too long, those who most need healing and gentle guidance have been priced out of wellness spaces.

I am committed to helping deconstruct that narrative — ensuring that every person I encounter feels empowered in their own experience with movement and meditation.

Namaste.
